WEEKLY CLASSES
Weekly Classes are regular art classes held in our classroom at Alabama Art Supply. We offer several weekly art classes led by professional artists who love to teach. If you are a beginner exploring your creative side, want to learn a new art skill to add to your repertoire, or take your art to the next level, try these classes. Ron Lewis, Susan Oliver, Susan Ripp, and Cynthia Parsons teach our classes. Read more about their classes below.

Come join local Birmingham artist Susan Oliver, previously featured in Southern Living, for acrylic painting classes at Alabama Art Supply. Classes are taught in 4-part increments over the course of each month.
These classes are fun, highly individualized, and you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with Susan to develop your own personal style. If you are looking to think outside of the box and have a great time, this is the class for you!
Please bring a canvas (size of your choice), brushes, and an assortment of acrylic paints. Students who wish to purchase supplies at Alabama Art Supply will receive a discount.

Celebrate the beauty of the season by bringing your own fresh cuttings and transforming them into a painted bouquet.

In this relaxed, guided studio experience, you’ll explore how to observe and interpret flowers — from delicate petals to expressive color and movement. Whether you prefer watercolor, acrylic, or another medium, this class encourages you to work in the style that feels most natural to you.
Each week, you’ll build your skills in composition, color mixing, and capturing the unique character of your floral subjects. No two bouquets are the same — and neither are the paintings you’ll create.
🌿 What to Expect:
- Bring fresh flowers or greenery from your garden (or pick some up on your way!)
- Work at your own pace with guidance and feedback from Cynthia Parson
- Explore your chosen medium while developing observation and painting techniques
- Create a series of floral studies or finished pieces throughout the month
Spend your Thursdays immersed in creativity with Cynthia Parsons in this relaxed, supportive open studio setting. Whether you’re finishing ongoing projects, exploring new approaches, or strengthening your foundational skills, you’ll be encouraged to grow your artistic voice at your own pace—with guidance and inspiration along the way.
Do join us! Geography doesn’t hinder our fun of learning to paint a bit! Beginning painters and "Just Listeners" are welcome!

In case of inclement weather, Cynthia zooms the Thursday Open Studio from her home in Madison County, Alabama. The Zoom sessions are from 12:00- 2:00 CST and Cynthia will provide the link to the zoom sessions when necessary.
