We’re combining Week 10: Layer Without Fear and Week 11: Color & Emotion into one continuous process—starting with physical layers and moving into emotional expression through color.
As your surface builds, something else begins to emerge:
not just texture, but meaning.
🎨 TRY IT NOW: Build & Feel
Create one piece using at least three layers, then let color guide the final direction.
Step 1 — Begin
Start with a loose base layer. Keep it simple and intuitive.
Step 2 — Build
Add a second and third layer using different materials or techniques—paint, collage, or texture.
Let earlier layers remain visible.
Step 3 — Respond
Pause. Look at what’s formed.
Choose colors based on feeling, not realism.
Step 4 — Resolve
Add color in transparent or opaque layers.
Let contrast guide your focal point.
